Offshore recruiter for $800 a month!

That was the header in an email I received recently.  The email indicated that my name came up during a search for leading staff augmentation firms.  I don't have a staff augmentation firm, but I take it as a compliment that if I did have one it would be presumed to be leading, even though that presumption was part of a bulk email.  One must get one's compliments where one can.

All that aside, the thought of hiring a recruiter for $800 a month makes me wonder if I should start a staff augmentation firm just to take advantage of the pricing.  The last time we surveyed on the question of pay (back in 2005), domestic recruiters were getting about four times that.

With such savings to be had, no wonder that staffing firms are taking great interest in the offshoring and/or outsourcing of recruiters -- and that's not just anecdotal, our latest survey results on the subject bear that out.

Should you get on the bandwagon?  Industry consultants seem to think so.  At our most recent Executive Forum, I moderated a panel on ideas to save money and/or boost revenue.  Out of the five consultants presenting ideas, three independently proposed talking about offshoring recruiters as one of the best ways to save money.
