Alten Canada acquires Québec firm

Alten Canada, a subsidiary of the European technology consulting and engineering firm Alten Group, acquired Consultem, a Québec-based IT consulting and staffing firm. The acquisition strengthens Alten Canada’s presence in the Quebec market, which it recently entered in 2013.

“We wanted to buy a company having an expertise in the local market,” said Maxime Leca, vice president, operations, at Alten Canada.

The transaction closed Jan. 31, and terms were not disclosed.

The Consultem brand will remain for about the next six months but eventually operate as ALTEN Canada.  “We will merge it slowly but surely,” said Leca.

Karol Brassard, the controlling shareholder of Consultem, will not stay with the firm but the rest of the team will remain on board.

“Our client base has expanded significantly since we opened our office in Montréal and we were looking to grow our team,” said Leca. “Consultem has a unique expertise and enjoys a reputation built on more than 20 years’ experience in the industry.”
