Benchmarks: U.S. Temp Penetration Rate

Will the U.S. temporary penetration rate ever break 2.0 percent again? Despite all the talk of a “secular shift,” and the recent bullishness in the U.S. staffing market, the temporary penetration rate (share of total employment made up by the temporary services industry as reported monthly by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics), remains below its peak of 2.03 percent set in April 2000. For January 2013, the rate was 1.90 percent.
