Benchmarks: Temp Staffing Revenue


How much revenue was generated by suppliers of temporary staffing in 2010? We estimate U.S. revenue of $80 billion, representing a 12 percent increase from 2009. After major cuts to contract labor in 2009, companies have ramped up their use of temporary staffing. We project that by 2012, the U.S. temporary market will make up $97.3 billion, near pre-recession levels.

 27%: Growth in staffing of industrial jobs in 2010, the most growth of any temporary staffing segment

The strongest performing of the professional segments were IT and engineering, with each growing 13 percent in 2010.
