Zirtual shuts down

August 11, 2015

Zirtual Inc., a Nevada company that provides virtual assistance services to executives, paused operations Monday, blindsiding both employees and customers.

“We have currently paused operations of Zirtual.com and it’s (sic) services. We are so sorry for any inconvenience. Best, Maren Kate Donovan + the Zirtual Team,” is all the company’s website now says. Donovan founded Zirtual in 2010.

Recruit Holdings subsidiary Recruit Strategic Partners, a fund aimed at a broader subset of technology companies, invested in Zirtual in November.

Business Insider reports Zirtual sent an email to all of its employees 1:34 a.m. PDT on Monday saying it had ceased operations, effective immediately.

Techcrunch reports the personal assistant startup sent an email to customers saying it is “pausing all operations” starting today: “Due to a combination of market circumstances and financial constraints we must re-organize our current structure if we are to successfully serve you in the future.”

Zirtual named Ramon Icasiano as COO in May.
