Yoh tech wage index rises 2%

April 14, 2010

The Yoh index of technology wages in March posted its first substantive uptick since October 2009 by rising 2.34%.

The index is produced by Yoh Services LLC, a provider of technical staffing, managed services, a vendor management system and more. The index measures wages in the information technology, life sciences, engineering, healthcare, and aerospace and defense segments.

"During the past two years, the Yoh index, like the American economy, has moved in fits and starts," said Yoh President Lori Schultz. "But we see this latest data as the most promising sign yet that green shoots are giving way to real economic opportunity with corporations moving to hire, at least on a temporary basis, professional technical talent."

However, difficulties remain, Schultz said. Corporate IT budgets remain squeezed and the overall jobless rate remains at 9.7%.
