Xcel acquired Amsource, a Birmingham AL-based PEO and ASO firm, in late May. It also announced its acquisition of HR America, a Fort Wayne IN-based firm, in a deal that took place in December.

The acquisitions give Xcel 11,000 worksite PEO and ASO employees.

Xcel describes ASO services as similar to PEO services but without co-employment -- the workers remain employees of the client company. The ASO model also allows client firms to choose specifically what kind of human resources services they will use.

Amsource will operate as Xcel HR Amsource for the remainder of the year, and HR America will operate as Xcel HR America for the remainder of the year.

Terms of the transactions were not announced.
