World – Professional and managerial hiring intentions mixed for Q2 2015

Seven-out-of-10 (68%) businesses around the world are currently hiring at professional and managerial level, while 66% intend to take on additional staff in the coming three months, according to recruitment firm Antal International.

The Antal Global Snapshot is based on surveys and interviews completed by more than 9,000 organisations around the world, across more than 30 countries.

The time it takes companies to hire professional and managerial staff varies around the world.

In Western Europe, the strongest hiring intentions for professional and managerial positions next quarter were reported in the UK, with 71% of companies planning to hire in Q2 2015, followed by Ireland (65%), and Portugal (63%). The weakest hiring intentions in the region were reported in Italy with only 38% of companies planning to hire addition staff, followed by Germany (40%), and Spain (42%).

In Central Europe, Turkish companies proved most optimistic about their hiring intention next quarter with 69% of companies set to hire, followed by Slovakia and Russia, both with 69%. At the other end of the spectrum, the weakest hiring intentions were in Hungary (32%), Bulgaria (44%), and Croatia (45%).

Only two Middle Eastern countries provided figures for hiring professionals and managers next quarter; with 26% Saudi Arabian companies and 42% of companies in the UAE set to hire in Q2 2015.

Similarly in Asia Pacific, figures are only available for Indian and Chinese companies, which reported hiring intentions for the second quarter of 59% and 61%, respectively.   

The four countries from the Americas proved to be among the most optimistic with regard to their hiring intentions. The strongest intentions were reported in Argentina (88%), followed by Brazil (76%), Mexico (75%), and the USA (71%).

Across the world, the strongest hiring intentions were reported by companies operating in the business process outsourcing (BPO), technology, and ICT hardware sectors. Over the next three months, Antal expects BPO to continue driving demand for new staff, with banking and technology also set to grow strongly.
