World – Adecco Street Day reaches over a million jobseekers

30 March 2015

Adecco, the largest staffing firm in the world, celebrated its third “Street Day” last week, which saw more than 7,300 Adecco staff members in over 1,130 cities in 54 countries hit the streets to help combat youth unemployment.

The job market continues to be difficult for young people, especially in Europe, where many economies are improving at a slow pace. In an effort to make a difference; the Street Day, now in its third year, saw thousands of Adecco staff members meeting jobseekers in the streets, public places, school, and universities offering career guidance and free training.

An estimated 470 schools and universities were visited and 1,000 coaching sessions were held. More than 1,700 Adecco branches also held open days.

Street Day is part of the wider Adecco Way to Work programme, which also offers an online career centre with tips, educational material, and internship opportunities.

Candidates in 33 countries can also participate in the Group’s “CEO for One Month” programme. The 33 selected candidates will have the chance to learn directly from Adecco’s senior management in their countries of residence and boost their career prospects.

After these internships, one of the 33 young people will have the unique opportunity to gain the personal experience under the mentorship of Adecco Group CEO Patrick De Maeseneire. The final ‘CEO for One Month’ will have the opportunity to learn about running a Fortune 500 company with 31,000 employees and €20 billion in revenues in 2014.
