Will workers stay?

April 13, 2010

There's a disparity between how many employees say they plan to seek new jobs and employers' estimates of how many workers will stay, according to surveys by Manpower Inc. (NYSE: MAN).

A recent Manpower survey of 2,000 North American hiring managers found that 80% of hiring managers expect less than 5% of their employees to leave their companies voluntarily in 2010. However, more than 60% of employees said they plan to pursue new jobs when the job market gains momentum, according to a survey by Manpower subsidiary Right Management.

"These survey results are a wake-up call to employers," Jorge Perez, senior VP of staffing for Manpower North America, said in a press release. "As soon as the job market gains momentum, we will see a high volume of workers leaving their roles for new positions."
