Weekly unemployment claims remain unchanged

In the week ended June 21, the advance figure for seasonally adjusted initial unemployment claims was 384,000, unchanged from the previous week's revised figure.  The four-week moving average was 378,250, an increase of 2,250 from the previous week's revised average of 376,000.

The state with the biggest decrease in initial claims was Kentucky, down 5,090. There were fewer layoffs in the automobile and manufacturing industries, according to the state. Pennsylvania posted the largest increase in initial unemployment claims, up 4,284. The state cited layoffs in the transportation, transportation equipment, and petroleum industries, and agriculture.
