The number of U.S. initial claims for unemployment benefits rose 2.5% to 627,000 in the week ended June 20 from the previous week's revised number of 612,000, the U.S. Department of Labor reported today. The four-week moving average of claims rose 0.1% to 617,250 from the previous week's revised average of 616,750.
