Wanted forecasts loss of 627,000 jobs

April 27, 2009

Wanted Technologies Corp. estimates the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics will announce a loss of 627,000 U.S. nonfarm jobs in April when the bureau reports employment numbers on Friday, May 8.

Among the losses, Wanted estimates a decline of 28,800 jobs in transportation and warehousing and a loss of 22,500 in finance and insurance. However, it forecasts a gain of 31,900 in healthcare.

This is the second consecutive month that Wanted's forecast is less severe than the previous month. Wanted's forecast is based, in part, on a weekly measure of online job ads.
