Wanted estimates 440,000 fewer jobs in July

August 04, 2009

Wanted Technologies Corp. estimates the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics will announce a loss of 440,000 jobs in July when it releases U.S. nonfarm payrolls on Aug. 7.

The firm estimated a decline of 2,700 jobs in transportation and warehousing and a loss of 14,400 jobs in finance and insurance. However, Wanted forecast a gain of 28,600 jobs in healthcare.

Wanted's forecast is based, in part, on a weekly measure of online job ads.
