Volt exec takes CEO role on permanent basis

October 21, 2015

Volt Information Sciences Inc. (NYSE MKT: VISI) named Michael Dean as president and CEO on a permanent basis, effective immediately. Dean has served in the role on an interim basis following the resignation of President and CEO Ron Kochman in June. Dean joined Volt’s board as chairman in May 2015. He will remain a member of the board, but current board member Dana Messina takes the chairman position.

“We are pleased that Michael has agreed to take on this role and lead the Volt team on a permanent basis,” Messina said. “For the past several months, our board, along with the help of outside consultants, engaged in a rigorous process to determine the company’s permanent president and CEO. After careful consideration, it became clear that Michael’s vast experience and proven track record of success make him uniquely qualified to help Volt regain its momentum and lead the company forward. With Michael’s appointment, we have completed a critical step in revitalizing Volt and positioning it for future success.”

He most recently was CEO and a board member of Nature’s Sunshine Products Inc., a global health and wellness company. Prior to that, he was CEO of Mediaur Technologies Inc., a privately held satellite technology company that provides proprietary antenna system solutions for commercial and government applications. Earlier, Dean was executive VP of ABC Cable Networks Group, a global division of The Walt Disney Company, and a strategy consultant with Bain & Company.

Volt in May revamped its board composition and committee assignments per an agreement with shareholder group Glacier Peak Capital LLC and its affiliates.

Volt ranks No. 12 on Staffing Industry Analysts’ 2015 list of largest US staffing firms.
