VMS rolls out Apple Watch app; MBO adds tech execs — Technology

May 22, 2015

PRO Unlimited announced an Apple Watch app for its Wand vendor management system platform. In other tech news, MBO Partners, announced the hiring of two new tech executives, including one former Provade VMS exec. MBO will also bring aboard Provade’s former president as an advisor.

Apple Watch VMS app

Andrew Schultz, president and CEO of PRO, said the Wand Wearable VMS app one of the earliest B2B apps on the Apple Watch. It allows managers to:

  • Receive notifications for upcoming interviews and add those to their iOS calendar.
  • Review and approve time cards and expenses.
  • Manage and approve changes in statement-of-work (SOW) projects.

“Wand Wearable allows managers to perform timely business transactions from virtually anywhere,” said Ted Sergott, senior VP of product development. “For example, rather than waiting until the end of an important meeting, a vice president of IT with high-end knowledge workers can receive time card and expense notifications on her Apple Watch, and with two taps on her watch approve time and expenses for all of her contingent workers in a matter of a few seconds.”

Tech hires

MBO Partners, a provider of independent contractor engagement solutions including a freelancer management system, named Julian Richards as VP of product management. Richards comes to MBO Partners from Gannet where he was director of project management for mobile applications. Most recently, he launched USA Today’s Apple Watch app.

MBO also named Tom Rumberg as VP of product development and technology. Rumberg formerly served as chief technology officer at VMS provider Provade. In addition, former Provade founder and President Edward “EJ” Jackson will serve MBO Partners as an independent advisor.
