On Assignment Inc. (NASD: ASGN), a Calabasas, Calif.-based staffing firm, Monday announced Christian Rutherford will become president of its VISTA Staffing Solutions division, which provides locum tenens and physician search services.

Rutherford will take on the job effective Nov. 1. He will replace Mark Brouse, who has been VISTA’s president since 1990. Brouse, one of VISTA’s co-founders, will assume a new part-time role assisting Peter Dameris, president and CEO of On Assignment, in identifying and evaluating future acquisitions for VISTA.

“I am very pleased to welcome Christian and pass the baton to him as our incoming president,” said Brouse. “His industry experience and management expertise gained over many years in the healthcare staffing sector are a wonderful fit for VISTA, and will be critical in helping us as we continue to grow.”

Rutherford has 18 years’ staffing industry experience. He has been serving as a consultant to On Assignment since January. Most recently, Rutherford was chief operating officer of Medfinders. He has held senior leadership roles at CompHealth, and was president of Weatherby Locums, a privately held locum tenens.
