The company has office, industrial, “new technologies” and professional arms to its business in the country.

Randstad’s goal for this year is to develop its Professionals unit in Uruguay. If they succeed, they may make this business unit independent from their traditional services. The Uruguayan market is small but has attractive profit margins. Uruguay is the only South American country that has ratified ILO’s Convention 181 on private employment agencies. However, the ratification has not yet been followed through by way of regulation yet.

Uruguay is also an ideal market to develop shared services centres on a regional level. It is a predictable market, with legal certainty and good indicators with regards to economic freedom and ease of doing business.
