Union Plans Protest Involving Staffing Firm

February 03, 2012

Unite Here, a union, plans a protest today outside the Hyatt Regency Indianapolis to demand the hire hire workers directly once it ends its contract with a staffing firm. The Super Bowl will be played Sunday in Indianapolis, and the union said the protest will include DeMaurice Smith, executive director of the NFL Players Association as well as local officials.

Twenty workers could lose their jobs once the hotel cuts ties with Hospitality Staffing Solutions, the employer of the workers, after the Super Bowl, according to the union. Recently, a group of workers sued Hospitality Staffing Solutions LLC of Atlanta and 10 hotels claiming wage and hour violations.
