US demand for IT, engineering talent robust for ‘foreseeable future’

June 12, 2014

The number of U.S. information technology jobs rose by 0.28 percent month over month in May to a total of approximately 4.65 million, the TechServe Alliance reported. The number was up 2.9 percent on a year-over-year basis.

In addition, the number of engineering jobs in the U.S. rose 0.21 percent month over month in May to almost 2.5 million. The number was up 1.82 percent on a year-over-year basis.

“We continue to see a consistent steady climb in IT employment numbers,” said TechServe Alliance CEO Mark Roberts. “Growth in May IT employment was virtually identical to April’s numbers. On the engineering side, we saw some acceleration in growth compared to the two prior months.”

“Put simply, demand for IT and engineering talent will remain robust for the foreseeable future,” Roberts said.

The TechServe Alliance is a trade association of the IT and engineering staffing and solutions industry.
