US – Survey: Favored Healthcare VMS Strategy

November 13, 2012

When it comes vendor management systems in healthcare, staffing firms most prefer VMS that are managed directly by a hospital or healthcare provider, according to a survey by ShiftWise. The survey found that 47 percent of staffing firms prefer that management structure.

VMS managed by other staffing firms, including a single-source managed service provider, ranked second with 27 percent of staffing firms preferring this arrangement, according to the report.

Thirteen percent of staffing firms preferred a VMS managed through a group purchasing organization where vendors are contracted through the GPO and VMS system use is not mandatory.

Lastly, 3 percent preferred VMS managed by state associations.

Ten percent of respondents reported “other” when stating the preferred management setup.

ShiftWise is a VMS provider to the healthcare industry and is based in Portland, Ore.

Its report is based on 149 individual survey respondents representing a range of companies.
