US – Survey: 33% of Ad and Marketing Execs to Hire

December 17, 2012

Thirty-three percent of marketing and advertising executives plan to fill design or marketing roles in the first quarter of 2013, according to new research from The Creative Group. Account services, social media and media services are the specialties in greatest demand.

In addition, 39 percent of marketing and advertising executives said it's challenging to find skilled creative professionals today. Hiring managers at midsize advertising agencies with 50 to 99 employees reported the greatest difficulty; 61 percent of respondents said it was somewhat or very challenging.

“Companies seek professionals who can help improve their online presence and interactions with customers and clients,” said Donna Farrugia, executive director of The Creative Group. “In many cases, there is a shortage of creative people with the right technical expertise and soft skills, making it difficult for employers to fill open jobs.”

The survey is based on more than 500 telephone interviews — approximately 375 with marketing executives randomly selected from companies with 100 or more employees and 125 with advertising executives randomly selected from agencies with 20 or more employees.

The Creative Group is a marketing/creative staffing division of Robert Half International Inc. (NYSE: RHI).
