May 16, 2012

Twenty-nine percent of U.S. employers plan to hire summer workers this year, up from 21 percent who said the same a year ago, according to a survey released by CareerBuilder.

Among the driving sectors, 45 percent of manufacturing employers plan to add summer workers. In addition, 44 percent of hospitality sector employers expect seasonal hiring to pick up, along with 34 percent of employers in retail and 31 percent in finance.

Seventy-one percent of employers hiring this summer said they’ll be considering some hires for permanent positions.

The CareerBuilder survey was conducted by Harris Interactive and included 2,303 hiring managers and human resource professionals.
