US – Staffing Industry Growth ‘Plodding Along’

November 01, 2012

Trends in professional staffing were more favorable than in commercial staffing, but results from Staffing Industry Analysts’ new Pulse Survey indicate that staffing industry growth continues to plod along.

In temporary staffing, month-over-month revenue trends slipped to “widespread” improvement in September from “very widespread” in August.

Median temporary staffing revenue rose 13 percent year-over-year in September, down from 11 percent year-over-year growth in August.

In addition, there has been a decrease in the number of acquisitions reported to Pulse.

“Notably, in the last two months, only two acquisitions have been reported,” said Research Analyst Robert Balicki, author of the Pulse Report. “This is a significant drop from prior levels, but especially compared to the period from May to July.”

The Pulse Survey is based on a survey of individuals from 128 staffing companies. Full survey results are available to those who take part in the survey.
