Professional employer organization revenue at Automatic Data Processing Inc. (NASD: ADP) rose 13 percent to $465.7 million in the company’s fiscal second quarter ended Dec. 31 when compared to the same period in the previous year.

Average paid PEO worksite employees during the quarter rose to 276,000 from 251,000 in the year-ago quarter.

PEO services represent just one of Roseland, N.J.-based ADP’s business lines, which include nonstaffing services. Total revenue for the quarter was $2.75 billion, up 7 percent year over year.

ADP’s net earnings for the quarter were $390.0 million, up 4 percent from $375.0 million in the same quarter a year ago.
