US – Express: 32% Plan Q4 Hiring

October 18, 2012

Employers will increase hiring for commercial and light industrial jobs in the fourth quarter, according to the fourth-quarter hiring trends survey of employers conducted by the Oklahoma City-based staffing firm Express Employment Professionals.

Thirty-two percent of U.S. and Canadian employers surveyed said they planned new hires for commercial and light industrial jobs, down slightly from 37 percent in the third-quarter survey.

“With the unemployment rate at its lowest since January 2009 and employers planning to hire even more staff, we’re off to a good start for the fourth quarter for job seekers,” said Chairman and CEO Robert Funk. “This news comes on the heels of Express placing more than 20,000 new employees in North America in September.”

The survey also found that 14 percent of employers planned to add administrative and office clerical staff in the fourth quarter.

More than 50 percent of respondents indicated that they still have difficulty recruiting for and filling positions.

The survey included 439 employers across the U.S. and Canada.
