US – Employment Services Index Rises

May 14, 2012

Prices for staffing services rose on a year-over-year basis in April. The U.S. producer price index for employment services rose 1.1 percent on a year-over-year basis in April to a reading of 126.8, according to preliminary data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.

The index tracks the change in price received by producers of the services over time. The change in price is measured from the perspective of the seller.

The index has been showing year-over-year increases since February following a decline in January.

The employment services industry includes employment placement agencies, temporary help services, executive search services and professional employer organizations.

Employment services is just one industry tracked in the producer price indexes.
