US – Elance Reports Job Posts Rise 41%

Online staffing provider Elance reported the number of job posts on its site rose 41 percent in the third quarter compared to the same time last year. Freelancer earnings on Elance rose 42 percent year over year to nearly $50 million in the third quarter. The number of freelancers that registered with the online labor platform rose 64 percent and the number businesses that hired workers rose by 28 percent .

“On Elance, your earnings aren’t tied to where you are located. What matters most is what you can do, and how well you do it,” said Fabio Rosati, CEO of Elance. “Skilled professionals around the world are tapping online work to find interesting jobs with leading companies. As our growth accelerates, we are increasingly confident in our prediction that one in three workers will be hired online by 2020.”

Online staffing involves staffing buyers contracting with workers online for tasks that are done remotely. Often the buyer and worker never meet in person.

Elance is privately held and headquartered in Mountain View, Calif., and Oslo, Norway.
