Accountable Healthcare Holdings Corp. (AHS) purchased San Antonio-based Medrec Inc., a healthcare staffing agency specializing in therapy skill sets. Medrec is AHS’s fifth acquisition in 2012 and its largest transaction to date.

“We plan to utilize Medrec as the platform to expand our diversification into several allied healthcare modalities,” said Robert J. Adamson, chairman and CEO of AHS, and former CEO of Medical Staffing Network, the fifth-largest healthcare staffing provider in the U.S.  

AHS will use Medrec’s therapy staffing business to launch its new Allied Division. It plans to provide therapy staffing services throughout its nurse staffing offices and also add other high-demand specialty staffing modalities — including radiology, pharmacy and clinical laboratory services — over the next few months.

Medrec posted double-digit growth annually for the last six years and counts offices in San Antonio, Dallas, Houston and Denver. Medrec’s current management team will stay in place, Adamson said.
