UK – SThree uses automation solution for its onboarding and offboarding processes

05 February 2016

International recruitment firm SThree now uses Activebatch, a workforce automation solution, to keep up with increasing demands on onboarding and offboarding processes placed on its IT department and now deploys it for 90% of these processes.

In an interview with Baseline Mag, SThree’s Director of IT Services, Garry Lengthorn, said that with the expansion of SThree’s operations beyond Europe, the IT department’s workload has increased. "If you spend six months having to deal with a supplier, fix issues, do constant patching and overcome problems, the investment can really diminish," Lengthorn said.

For SThree, the main factors in using an automated solution were the savings, the need for a more robust system and a desire to simplify processes. Lengthorn said that SThree has saved a significant amount of money on license and maintenance costs and also has gained more flexibility.

According to Lengthorn, when a new user joins the company, the IT team runs an automated process in ActiveBatch to add an account and give the new user necessary access permissions. The process is also expedited for an employee who leaves: The account is decommissioned and access permissions are updated. Once an employee leaves they are offboard immediately and cannot gain unauthorized access. He said that the offboarding and onboarding process is streamlined and allows the team to "hit the ground running" and said “you just can't put a price on that agility."
