UK – Global brands back REC’s responsible recruitment campaign

19 December 2014

Kellogg’s, Diageo, Yell, PepsiCo, McDonalds and Mercedes-Benz have all signed up to the Recruitment and Employment Confederation’s (REC) Good Recruitment Campaign in recent months, demonstrating their commitment to best practice recruitment.

A total of 58 organisations have signed the Good Recruitment Charter to date, pledging to promote diversity and inclusion, offer flexible working arrangements, provide an excellent candidate experience, and have leading-edge recruitment practices.

REC Chief Executive Kevin Green said: “Our campaign to promote good recruitment has real momentum. As the economy picks up and businesses look to hire more staff, the Good Recruitment Campaign promotes the crucial role of quality recruitment in business success.”

“We encourage more businesses both large and small to demonstrate a public commitment to good practice in recruitment. The benefits of this include being able to attract the best talent and ensure they are seen as employers of choice.”

Kellogg’s Talent & Diversity Director Ben Lamont said: “Our people are our greatest asset and so ensuring that we acquire and develop the very best talent is critical to our future performance and growth. We are fully supportive of the Good Recruitment Charter and all that it stands for - at its core it is a responsible and candidate-centric approach, which we strive to demonstrate in every single interaction we have.”

Yell Head of Recruitment, CSR & Wellbeing Andrew Groves said: “The REC’s Good Recruitment Campaign backs-up exactly what we have always tried to do at Yell, namely put the candidate at the heart of everything we do and ensure that recruitment is a two-way process where values and objectives are aligned.”

PepsiCo UK Head of Talent Acquisition Debbie Robinson said: “The success of our business is built around our people, therefore recruiting and retaining the very best talent is key. Here at PepsiCo we are committed to best practice and didn’t hesitate when given the opportunity to sign the Good Recruitment Charter. The charter has candidate experience at its heart and mirrors PepsiCo’s standards and existing approach to recruitment. We have always strived to meet these principles, every day and with every candidate. PepsiCo is happy to support the REC Good Recruitment Charter.”

McDonald's UK Senior VP of People Jez Langhorn said: “We have joined the Good Recruitment Campaign as we feel strongly that it echoes the principles and approach we take towards recruitment at all levels of our business. At McDonald's we want to attract and retain people with the right attitude to fulfil their potential and I'm particularly proud of the development opportunities, benefits and flexible working we offer at all levels to help our people do this. We look forward to working with REC on this and encourage more businesses to support the campaign.”

The new signatories join organisations from across the private and public sectors, including CIPD, The FIRM, the Institute of Leadership and Management, the Federation of Small Businesses, the Direct Employers Association, the Confederation of Business Industry, NHS Employers, Santander, First Group, Royal Mail, G4S and RWE npower.
