U.S. leading index rises 0.9%

The Conference Board's U.S. leading economic index released today rose 0.9% in November, its eighth consecutive month of increases. It now stands at 104.9 (2004=100).

"The indicators point to a bright new year," said Ken Goldstein, economist at The Conference Board. "Looking ahead, we can expect a slowly improving economy through 2010."
