U.S. average hourly earnings up over year

Average hourly earnings rose to $19.00 in June 2010 from $18.57 in June 2009 for private sector production employees and nonsupervisory employees in service-providing industries, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported today. On a month-over-month basis, June 2010's earnings were unchanged.

The average hourly earnings for all employees on private, nonfarm payrolls were $22.53 in June, up from $22.16 the same month a year ago. However, average hourly earnings for this group edged down in June from $22.55 in May.

Average hourly earnings include both full-time and part-time jobs.
