TriNet says Boston leads tech hiring

The strong trend in hiring for the U.S. tech sector continued in March with net job growth at 1.47 percent, significantly higher than February’s 0.92 percent net job growth, according to TriNet’s SMBeat report.

The Boston Metro area had another strong month with net job growth of 3.22 percent in March, about 7 percent higher than February’s rate of 3.01 percent. The New York Metro area follows the Boston area with a job growth rate of 2.35 percent. The Silicon Valley, Denver-Boulder and Atlanta areas also performed well in March with 2.12 percent, 1.79 percent and 1.77 percent net job growth, respectively. The Los Angeles area grew more slowly than the other tech hubs, growing at a rate of only 0.34 percent.

The professional employer organization reported employment levels among its client firms rose by 0.86 percent in March, faster than February’s rate of 0.81 percent. New hires were at 3.36 percent, and terminations and quits at 1.17 percent and 1.27 percent, respectively.
