TriNet: NY state tech jobs outpace Silicon Valley

New York state joins San Francisco as a tech hub and start-up incubator, according to TriNet’s SMBeat report released today. Employment in the New York tech sector rose 2.5 percent in June compared to California’s 1.3 percent increase. However, the report found the average salary for the New York tech sector is $94,000 compared to $120,000 nationally and $143,000 in California.

Georgia is also a rising tech employer as the state works to provide $100 million in venture capital funding to startups over the next few years: Job creation in Georgia showed net growth at 3.7 percent in June, outpacing Silicon Valley’s growth of 1.3 percent.

The professional employer organization reported employment levels among its client firms rose by 1.1 percent in June — new hires were at 3.3 percent in June and terminations at 2.1 percent — led by the technology and wholesale/retail trade sectors.
