Travel healthcare group launches

July 14, 2008

The National Association of Travel Healthcare Organizations (NATHO) launched this month. It aims to educate the healthcare industry on the benefits of travel healthcare staffing, establish ethical standards and more.

"The purpose of the organization is to improve the quality of the companies in the industry," said Mark Stagen, chairman of NATHO and CEO of Emerald Health Services.

The organization will do all the things that a trade organization does, but it will be focused on travel healthcare staffing providers, Stagen said. "The needs of the travel healthcare industry are very unique," he said. "This organization is meant to specifically cater to the healthcare travel industry."

Founding members include AMN Healthcare, Cross Country Staffing and On Assignment among others.

Prospective members of the organization must be certified by the Joint Commission on Accreditation for Healthcare Organizations or be in the process of certification. They must also submit proof of insurance. The organization's Web site is www.natho.org.
