Three states tie for highest jobless rate

California, Mississippi, and Nevada posted the highest unemployment rates among the states in February at 9.6 percent each, according to seasonally adjusted numbers released today by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. Nevada’s unemployment rate fell 2.2 percentage points when compared to February 2012; it was the largest year-over-year decrease among states. California’s February jobless rate fell 1.2 points when compared to February 2012.

North Dakota again registered the lowest jobless rate, 3.3 percent in February.
