The Conference Board: U.S. growth slows

July 14, 2010

"As the rebound effects from the recession have almost entirely dissipated, a growth slowdown starting this summer is becoming increasingly apparent," The Conference Board reported.

Second-quarter growth in U.S. gross domestic product may be the highest for the year, according to The Conference Board. However, there are no signs of a double-dip recession.

The organization expects U.S. GDP to grow 1.5% to 2.0% in the second half of the year amid slow consumer spending, weaker investment growth and a cutback in government spending.
