The Albany Group buys Japanese firm

January 23, 2009

The Albany Group announced Thursday it acquired Strata Works KK, a Japan-based staffing company.

Jason Posel, senior VP of Albany, said Strata is a contractor management company. It has a focus on technology workers, providing them to companies in any industry.

Strata had the equivalent of a labor leasing license in Japan, and the acquisition lets Albany operate its managed service provider program and other services in Japan, Posel said. Such a license is necessary under Japanese law.

"It gives us access to the second-biggest economy in the world," he said.

Strata had previously partnered with Albany.

Terms of the deal, which took place late last year, were not announced.

Albany provides independent contractor payroll services, a managed service provider program and other services.
