The Tennessee Attorney General's office announced last week it filed suit against the owner of  four employment agencies in the state for allegedly promising workers jobs at exaggerated salary levels, career development, other job placement services and, in violation of state law, charging an up-front fee.

The owner, Linda McCluskey, advertised jobs with salaries ranging from $50,000 to $500,000 as well as signing bonuses, according to the Attorney's General's office. However, McClusky's businesses are accused of not delivering, not arranging for interviews and, in some cases, not contacting any employers at all, the office reported.

Employment agencies involved include Britton James & Associates, The Franklin Group of America, Hamilton Clark International and The Renaissance Group International, according to the office. The businesses have generated complaints from more than two dozen people, according to the office.
