The Technisource IT employee confidence index rose 4.4 points to 50.2 in the third quarter, the highest reading since the fourth quarter of 2007. The index was released Tuesday.

According to the index's survey, 31% of technology workers in the third quarter believed the economy was getting weaker compared with 48% in the second quarter. In addition, 63% of tech workers believed fewer jobs were available in the third quarter compared with 73% in the second quarter.

The survey was done by Harris Interactive for Technisource, the technology placement division of Spherion Corp. (NYSE: SFN).
