Tech wages down, demand for workers up

July 28, 2010

Technology wages rose between February and April, but a downward trend emerged in May and June, according to the Yoh index of technology wages for the second quarter released by Yoh Services LLC, a provider of technical staffing, managed services and a VMS.

The index reached a level of 114.13 in April, up from 113.8 in March. Then the index fell to a level of 113.89 in May and 112.55 in June.

However, the company said demand for highly skilled workers rose even as wages fell.

"This inverted wage curve, where demand for skilled workers is increasing while wages are decreasing is extraordinarily rare," said Lori Schultz, president of Yoh.
