TeamHealth Holdings Inc. (NYSE: TMH), a Knoxville, Tenn.-based firm that provides outsourcing services for hospital emergency departments, acquired Chicago-based Midwest Emergency Associates, another emergency department outsourcing firm.

TeamHealth will take on the management of 12 emergency departments and four urgent care centers under the deal.

In addition to providing outsourced emergency room services, TeamHealth provides healthcare staffing services. Its Daniel and Yeager Inc. division provides locum tenens staffing.
