TSR Inc. (NASD: TSRI), a Hauppauge, N.Y.-based information technology staffing provider, reported revenue rose 15.2 percent to $12.2 million in its fiscal second quarter ended Nov. 30, compared with the year-ago quarter.

“Our revenue increase of 15.2 percent for the second quarter continued improved growth resulting from the efforts of our new hires in sales and recruiting,” said CEO Joe Hughes.

The average number of consultants on billing with customers rose to 306 in the quarter from 260 in the same quarter year prior.

“Average billing rates declined during the quarter as a result of a shift in the business mix, offsetting the effect of the increase of consultants on billing with customers,” said Hughes. “A higher percentage of new placements have been with customers where there is stronger competition due to managed services programs.”

Second-quarter net income was $32,203, compared with a net loss of $182,469 in the year-ago period.
