Switzerland – Temporary staffing market stabilising

18 September 2014

The number of temporary jobs in Switzerland recovered somewhat during August 2014, increasing by +6.8% compared with the same month last year, according to the latest figures from Swiss Staffing, the Swiss Federation of Staffing Companies.

Since the start of the year, the volume of temporary work has increased by +1.2%, compared with the same eight-month period last year. Over the past 12 months, temporary work is up by +0.9%, compared with the preceding 12-month period.

The temporary staffing market in Switzerland has been quite volatile since the start of the year. In July, there was a -5.6% decline in temporary work, with decreases of -4.9% reported in May and -0.7% in February. This was offset by very strong growth of +15.6% in March, compared with the same month last year.

According to Swiss Staffing, there are several business indicators that suggest current employment levels across Switzerland will remain constant or increase slightly during the coming months.

Key:

Veränderung gegenüber Vorjahresmonat – Change compared with the same month last year

Durschnittswachstum der letzten 12 Monate – Average change over the past 12 months

Wachstum seit Jahresbeginn (gegenüber Vorjahresperiode) – Change since the start of the year (compared with the same period last year)
