Survey finds 71% of CEOs expect staff cuts

April 08, 2009

A survey released this week of members of the Business Roundtable, an association of CEOs from U.S. companies, found that 71% plan to cut staff in the next six months while 7% plan to add staff. Another 21% plan no change — the survey results don't equal 100% because of rounding.

The member CEOs also estimated U.S. real gross domestic product will decline by 1.9% in 2009.

The survey took place between March 16 and March 27.
