Survey: Q3 improvement for finance/accounting, IT

Human resources professionals and hiring managers in the accounting, finance and information technology sectors expect improved economic conditions in the third quarter of 2013 and a much more favorable outlook in hiring plans, according to the third-quarter hiring forecast study conducted by Clear Focus Financial Search and Richard Curtin, professor and director of surveys for the University of Michigan.

Overall, 48 percent of respondents expect economic conditions to improve in the third quarter, up from 35 percent in the previous quarter.

In addition, 23 percent of human resources professionals and hiring managers plan to increase the pace of hiring new employees in their accounting, finance and IT operations, according to the report, up from 16 percent who had expected to expand hiring in the second quarter. Sixty-five percent reported no change in hiring plans, 6 percent expect a decrease in staff, and 6 percent are uncertain of hiring plans.

The Q3 2013 Clear Focus Hiring Forecast includes responses from 132 professionals, surveyed from May 16 to June 7.
