Survey: IT Staffing Buyers Say Quality Is Key

Buyers of information technology staffing say quality of IT personnel is a top value driver when selecting a staffing firm, according to a survey by TEKsystems, the IT staffing division of Allegis Group.

In allocating 100 points across attributes that buyers consider when selecting an IT staffing firm, the ability to provide quality IT personnel received 46 points based on the buyer survey. That’s up from 44 points in a similar survey in 2011.

Buyers’ next top value driver was pricing/rates, which received 18 points. Other key attributes included staffing account manager’s services at 14 points and timeliness/speed of filling requirements at 14 points as well.

In a separate survey of IT consultants, TEKsystems found consultants’ criteria for selecting staffing firms was more varied than those of buyers. Compensation ranked as the most important consideration, receiving 23 points out of 100. A staffing firm’s ability to match IT professionals to jobs in line with their skills, goals and interestes received 17 points. The ability to keep a consultant consistently employed received 16 points.

TEKsystems’ survey of staffing buyers included more than 1,800 buyers, and the survey of consultants included 6,100 IT professionals.
