Survey: Economy prompts career changes

Economic turbulence is prompting people to switch careers. A global online poll by Monster Worldwide Inc. found that 50 percent of respondents reported global economic troubles are prompting them to undergo a complete career change. In addition, 33 percent reported they would maybe switch careers due to the global economic troubles, and 14 percent reported their career as unaffected by the economy.

The highest number of respondents trying to switch careers came from U.K. at 61 percent, followed by the U.S. at 57 percent. In Canada, 54 percent of respondents report they are trying to switch careers.

The Monster Global Poll is based on votes cast by Monster visitors from April 29 to May 20, 2013.
