September 07 2011

Hiring of workers in the cloud appears to be looking up, according to a survey by Elance Inc., a firm that connects staffing buyers to off-site independent contractors over the Web.

Some 75 percent of business plan on increasing or maintaining their level of spend on hiring online professionals over the next 12 months, according to the survey. In comparison, only 15 percent plan to hire a traditional full-time employee or employees in the next 12 months.

In addition, 83 percent of firms plan to hire at least half their workers online in the next 12 months.

The survey included 300 U.S.-based Elance business customers.

The Power of the Web

I found your stat very interesting that 83% of firms plan to hire at least half their workers online in the next 12 months. Here at Grass Roots Marketing, we are finding that a company's website is their most important tool for attracting leads and even potential employees. Being able to be "found" in places like search engines (Google) and by finding your links in other reputable places have a strong effect on the person who finds you. The same goes for hiring: the more available you are, the better your hiring process. Which is why the website is so important!
